To build a partnership between CMS Title I High Schools, Carolinas Medical Center, and the greater Charlotte community in order to expose Charlotte's Title I high school students to the various professions one can pursue in the field of healthcare through a highly interactive mentorship and professional development experience.
The PATCH Program is an 8-week curriculum, held on consecutive Saturdays in the early spring. Participants spend the day shadowing healthcare professionals at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), learning how to conduct and present scientific research, and engaging in other personal and professional development experiences.
To provide Charlotte's minority and underserved students with an equal opportunity to pursue a career in healthcare, ultimately producing a more diverse healthcare workforce and reducing health disparities in Charlotte's urban communities.
