PATCH Program Coordinators

 

Ashley Appiagyei

Ashley is in her third year of medical school (Class of 2018) at the UNC School of Medicine. Prior to beginning medical school, she obtained her Masters of Public Health in Global Health (2011) from Emory University and worked for three years in several countries in Africa on HIV counseling and testing, and family planning. Ashley has come full circle, as she is a 2006 graduate from Vance High School, where she know helps to recruit students to the PATCH program!

Kyle Roedersheimer

Kyle taught three years of Chemistry at Garinger High School (2009-2012) as part of the Teach for America program prior to beginning Medical School in 2012. Kyle helped launch the PATCH Program while completing third year clinical rotations at Carolinas Medical Center as a UNC School of Medicine - Charlotte Campus student in 2014. After graduation in May of 2016, he began a residency in Emergency Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center and will finish in 2019.

Melissa Rolfsen

Melissa is in her third year of medical school at UNC (Class of 2018). Prior to beginning medical school, she obtained her Masters of Public Health in Health Behavior (2014) from UNC's Gillings School of Global Public Health.  Melissa taught two years  (2010-2012) of Earth and Environmental Science at Garinger High School through Teach For America prior to coming to UNC in 2012 to pursue her MPH.
